Which one would you prefer?
The wisdom of parliament having representatives elected by you and having  representatives of the whole of your country and continuously answerable to people who elect them and always subject to protest and public opinion
or
the wisdom of selected or appointed dozens against whom you have no remedy even if they are wrong and corrupt. You cannot shout them corrupt or wrong although they are.
