Pinpointed writings are relevant in their frame only. They carry immense value for the time and subject these are related to and are to be referred in that context alone. But beyond their own subject and time frame they become irrelevant and cannot be a part of composite knowledge-strategy .
Basic knowledge skills being developed may be irrelevant to superficial readers, students but are like basic theorems ,formulas, theories ,equations developed ,tested and tried over a period of time and are now the components of knowledge base of the whole society.Certain broad principles of humane intellect are always relevant and apply in more than on area of knowledge , action , evaluation ,  operation.
The farsightedness , vastness and completeness of thoughts are recognised as basics of human knowledge and actions.
